There are dangers to any drug, and consumers should certainly be aware; but for those this drug works well for, Seroquel can be an absolute Godsend. For many bipolar patients, Seroquel helps with mood regulation, reducing racing thoughts, and making restful sleep much easier to attain. all patients need to work closely with their mental health care provider to assess the potential risks and benefits of any medication.

I'm know that every drug has risk. I took Seroquel for severe insomnia for a year and it worked. However, during and 5 years to this day I have had felt side effect that may have been caused by this medication. EPS, has been a constant problem, "brainzaps", and other bodily side effects that would make water boarding or a broken bone feel like a day at the beach. I now have to see a neurologist to receive the proper treatment to help counteract these painful side effects. Seroquel is not problem, only the inadequate prescribing guidelines.

ya tami but what about the diagnosis of popularity and trend of the moment and people who are HORRIBLY misdiagnosed with bi polar when they really have mdd odd and ptsd as a diagnosis then seroquel will damage their already shaky balance, and is detrimental to neurological state.

I have been on Seroquel 400mg for treatment of 296.63, since August of 2005. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight, in excess of 50 lbs. Just had blood work done and for the first time in my life my glucose is high. and Albumin is low. I am currently under going testing for uncontrolled muscle movements of my right arm. Now as some of these can be written off as part of being 51 years old, I can't help but wonder if it is Seroquel. Bearing in mind I have had the longest period of remission in my life as a direct result of Seroquel being the cornerstone to the pharmacological treatment. Seroquel made my life livible, I am by no means knocking the medication. I knew within a few days that the right medication had been found, I am so hoping that it is not responsible for the changes. I honestly don't know if I would choose to discontinue it, as a matter of fact I know I wouldn't. Tami I agree with you totally, just alittle concerned now is all. gene155@yahoo.com

I have been taking Seroquel for over 3 years. I now have a more profound & severe case of depression. I was born with this condition. I'm 61 and healthy. My increased depression could be directly related to the state of our country. I worked (un-classified) for the FBI for 3 years. It was considered unclassified, except I overheard things (granted it was hear-say) However these were very Evil things, I heard about.. As our great country gets weaker and weaker, I get more depressed. My life is a living nitemare. I know have to have bloodwork done to see if I may have Diabetis, because of the Seroquel. I'm glad I found this site. I have a lot of homework to do now. I pray Seroquel did not make my conditions worse. My name is Glenn at gc7777777@aol.com Please if anyone has any documented data, send a copy my way. God bless us all.

Seroquel sucks! It didn't do anything for me! All it did was made me gain weight. And my psychiatrist was an idiot who made me take the drug despite the fact it didn't work. It can work for others but it sure didn't work for me.

Seroquel has helped me remain in remission from anorexia. As I only take a very low dose (100 mg), I have been on the medication since 2008 and have no side-effects.

My daughter was on Seroquel 600 mg per day for a long time and now she has past away from cardiac arrest which is a side affect of Seroquel that we were NEVER told about. She had no previous heart issues, in fact the Tuesday before she died she went to her Dr. and was given a clean bill of health, then on Friday morning she was GONE. FYI she was only 17 years old. In my opinion DO NOT take Seroquel demand your Dr. put you on a different medication.

I have been on Seroquel since it came on the market in 1997, so I have been on it for the 14 years. I agree that it does work, but I have other medical conditions come from using it too. I just recently told that I have cataracs, and I have never had eye problems before. I am also an epileptic, and I was diagnosed with that 2 years after I started taking Seroquel. I found out that Seroquel causes seizures. I have to take medication to counteract the side effects from the Seroquel. I have been trying to get off it, but it has been difficult. My dosage went from 75mgs to 100mgs to 200mgs back to 100mgs and now I am down to 50mgs. My short term memory is crap from this medicine. I barely graduated from college this spring because of my short term memory problems. I only hope that some of the information that I have given will help other people with deciding what to do about this drug. I have found that taking Trazdone helps in getting my mind to shut off at night.
